The 365 Photo Project

In an effort to keep some sort of routine and embrace personal & achievable goals, I'm participating in the 365 Photo Project. You take a photo a day for one year. Easy right? Wrong.

I'm on day 13 and I'm already wondering how I can sustain this. I'm personally against taking what I consider to be "filler" photos. But, to put it bluntly, I don't go out much. Most of the time I don't leave my room, and when I do, I'm not going to any place that inspires me. And, yes, I could take photos of my surroundings (aka: my room/home office) but that has the potential to get old fast.

But so far, so good. I haven't missed a day. There have been some less than stellar days though. One time I brought my camera to lunch, very specifically to take a photo there, only to completely forget. Womp. That was unfortunate. The second photo in my series is a work event reject photo. Other times I have an idea of what photo will be "the photo," but a dark horse sneaks up on me at the end of the day and takes the prize.

This project also has me using my iPhone camera a lot, specifically the Instagram app. I used to use Hipstamatic, but the viewfinder is not too cooperative and I don't feel like spending all the extra money on "film" and "lenses." Not when so many come on Instagram for free.

I also cheat a bit. Like, I take two photos I like (typically of the same thing, just slightly different) and make a photo composite in Photoshop and claim it's "one photo." I mean, it is ... sort of. I guess. Please don't tell on me.

Below is a slideshow of the photos I've taken so far. As of this writing, I'm up to day 13. (And hey, in other brief photography news, Jenny Owen Youngs reblogged a photo I took of her at a show at Asbury Lanes on her Tumblr. woot, woot!)
