Greatest Hits?

My newly acquired friend Kyle spilled the beans to me that he knows absolutely nothing about Weezer. As a Weezer super-duper fan, I decided to take it upon myself to change that.

So I burned him two CDs. The first was the Blue Album & Pinkerton back-to-back because, let's face it, you can't introduce someone to Weezer without explaining to them how influential these two albums were. Leaving any songs out would be such a disservice. Plus, ask any Weezer fan what their favorite album is, and it's gonna be one of these two, guaranteed.

Then, I burned a second disc, a 2001-2010 "greatest hits" compliation. I'll admit, this was mostly (ok, entirely) subjective. BUT! I did try to stick to singles and well-received songs and the like. (Meaning, there's no "Can't Stop Partying," ahem.)

Here's the tracklist. i think I did a pretty good job.

1. Hash Pipe
2. Island In The Sun
3. Keep Fishin' [radio edit]
4. Possibilities
5. Perfect Situation
6. Haunt You Every Day
7. Queen of Earth (unreleased demo)
8. Miss Sweeney (deluxe edition bonus track)
9. The Greatest Man That Ever Lived (Variations On a Shaker Hymn)
10. (If You're Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To
11. Let It All Hang Out
12. The Prettiest Girl In the Whole Wide World
13. Where's My Sex?
14. Represent (Rocked Out Remix)
15. I Just Threw Out the Love of My Dreams
16. Devotion
17. Velouria (The Pixies cover)
18. You Gave Your Love to Me Softly
19. Longtime Sunshine
20. I Was Made For You

I guess I cheated a little because I included some Rivers Cuomo solo stuff on there too but oh well. I think this is a good collection of =w= tunez. No non-Rivers vocal songs, minimal rapping, although a surprising amount from Raditude. (Although you could technically argue that "The Prettiest Girl ..." is from the Pinkerton era, and not Raditude.)

I've been pretty pumped to put this all together because of a few major Weezer development: the Pinkerton Deluxe re-release (YEAAAAH), the unreleased complication Death to False Metal (ALLRIIIIGGGHT), Hurley's recent release (wa-hooooo) and THE FREAKING MEMORIES TOUR, Y'ALL! I'm planning on doing one VIP night because a) I am crazy and b) my inner fangirl won't let me NOT go. I know I'm going to make an ass out of myself in front of the band because ... that's how I am when I meet my idols. Hyperactive and creepy.

So yeah. Weezer obsession is my life at the moment.
